Job Description – Part Time Production & Sales Associate

We are looking for a part-time production & sales associate. If you like cooking or are a foodie and you are outgoing, motivated, and hard-working, you’ll be a perfect addition to join our small team to support a dynamic growing business. Our company produces high-quality vegetarian meal kits, spice blends and more. We work within the philosophy of eating real food, using what’s seasonal and local with an emphasis on plant-based proteins, drawing flavors from our spices. We take pride in our creativity and the personal touch to every product, with a deep-rooted connection to our food culture and the local farming season. Our products are primarily sold at Boston area farmers’ markets and some specialty retail stores.

This position will give you the opportunity to work directly with the founder of this growing business on production and sales. We’re looking for someone excited to learn and contribute from the start. This individual should have high levels of organization, open communications, kindness, problem-solving, a professional work ethic, and willingness to do whatever it takes to complete the tasks necessary to satisfy customers. On occasion lifting cases of product may be involved and driving products to fulfill retail customer orders. This position will need a commitment of 15 hours a week. It’s a great opportunity for the right candidate to grow with the business and transition into full-time. The founder envisions that your enthusiasm and skills will help define your role within the company and learn how to run a small business.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks Include:

    Assist in production of meal kits, spice blends and other seasonal products.
    – This would entail tasks like;
    – Pack and label meal kits and spices
    – Use packaging, preparation and blending equipment as needed for the tasks
    – Organize, assemble and pack wholesale, retail and special orders
    – Maintain and communicate inventory, keeping records of what needs ordering
    – Wear a mask if required when working in close proximity
    – Moving or lifting 30 – 50 lbs. of product
    – If interested, assist in testing recipes for new products that can be engaging to the customers and used on our website/social media
    Assist in farmers’ market season;
    Weekday markets are early-afternoon to evening ending around 6-7pm, and weekend markets are mornings, ending around 2 pm.
    – Be engaging, outgoing and interact with customers with passion and knowledge for our brand and products. Sometimes providing samples, following all safety guidelines
    – Have the ability to stand for 5-7 hours
    – Be able to attend 1-2 markets each week which amount to a 6–8-hour work day
    – This would include the back and forth from the production facility to the market and back at the end of the day
    – Provide your own vehicle to be able to get to and from the markets with all the required gear and product
    – Be able to lift up to 30-50 lbs. of gear and products
    – Be able to set up and break down a tent, table, product display, tent-weights, signage, and products without damage to our or other’s equipment
    – Learn to use the POS system via your phone, take and process payments in CC, Apple/Google Pay and in Cash
    – Follow the market’s rules and food safety regulations
    – Effectively manage inventory, record sales; hand-off gear, left-over product and cash box at the end of the market
    – Wear a mask if required by the state/town/market regulations or on customer request
    – Be a team-player to fellow vendors, love working outdoors, keeping a sunny disposition

    – Sales background a plus with a charming demeanor
    – Efficient, with the ability to handle a fast-paced environment
    – Able to wear many hats and solve problems if they arise

Your own vehicle is required for part of this job. You will be reimbursed for gas/milage for the farmers’ market portion of the job. You must carry your own car insurance. Compensation between $15-$20 per hour with the ability to grow with the company. Location, north of Boston around Wakefield, Lynnfield, Reading.
